My husband appeared in w/o a lawyer, as ex-landlord is suing him. He did not seek legal counsel for today's hearing. a trial date has been set. He believes that the lawyer does not want to take this to trial, that he (the lawyer) will seek a settlement and for a nominal amount with the facts as they stand.
I am afraid that this will backfire on any settlement negotiations.
Should we be speaking to a lawyer?

You must tell the lawyer the facts to try to setttle it before the trial. If your in the right, and dont fear trial.
