Default to sue a car mechanic!

good day people,
On mechanic's advice, I purchased and had installed a new fuel pump. he inspected the car and diagnosis the sympton as being the need for a new fuel pump. he charged me $170 for the work but pump did not work. I took the car in to another shop and he told that problem was my ignition switch. Can I sue the first Mechanic and get a complete refund for the unnecessary work that was done? any advise?
thank you!

hi darius,
if you sign a work order before the repairs were started, read the small print either on the bottom or back. Probably states that the mechanic making the diagnosis believe the repair will fix your car but cannot be held liable if it doesn't.

Do you think that language is binding - who actually reads that stuff?
