Angry no work order

can a contractor hand you a bill right before final closing for extra work preformed with out my knowledge in some cases and no prices in other cases? There was never one work order given or signed between us in any of this. I want to sue him as he also handed me a check at closing for reimbursement , then was told that check was a mistake and now im having to pay 15% for the loan to pay him back, this guys screwing me left and right and costing me a fortune, that i just dont have! please if there is anyone who can tell me what my rights are on this issue please let me know

hi mitzi,
you don't have to pay for anything that is not written in your contract or for any work done without your knowledge.

Default ty ian

I had a feeling he couldnt do this the way he handled it. there were some changes we sat and went through together, but i called him two weeks later to ask him the cost of these changes, and his reply was that we should be about even on these changes, again nothing in writing and false information givin to me, as the costs were extremely high. i would not have asked him to do those changes if he would have told me the accurate costs on this, as i would not have been able to afford it. can he still charge me for this?

Going on any agreement w/o a writing deal is a big mistake. Talk to him straightawey i.e. regarding your oral agreement cost wise. Also, you must not continue with such a dishonest contractor.
