Default Calling 'Thief'!!

Hello all of you,
If a person sell something online describing the item as being in excellent condition, however slips in "As is" at the bottom. Does that statement give him Cart Blanche to rip someone off? The person have my money and told me to send it back to check it out. So now he has the item back and my money. He posted negative feedback against me which ruined my 100% positive. I mentioned a shorten version of his ebay ID, but it incuded the word thief in it. "Recv'd defective item. He told me to send it back. Kept my money and item. THIEF". Now he wants to contact his lawyer for libel. I should be the one suing him. Am I guilty of libel? What options i have now?
Please legal answers only. Thankz in advance.
