Default bill received from ex landlord.

hello members,
our previous apartment had a leaks in the ceiling which caused a mold. the landlord said to put up a drop ceiling. but it didn't help the mold problem. we have suffered numerous health problems. but we dont have a doctor document saying the mold caused our health issues. We cleaned some when we moved out, but left some things uncleaned as it is not possible for us to clean it. Now, our ex landlord sent us a bill saying they hired a cleaning service to do the rest of the cleaning. Can he hold us responsible for the bill or do we have a right to refuse to pay?
Thanks.

you need to show the proof that there was mold in the home like pictures or copy of work orders etc.
