Default late payment...?

hello guys, earlier, I worked for a small company. after quitting, I have been paying for COBRA coverage. last time, I made my a months payment about a week late. hence, the insurance company sent me a notice regarding cancellation. Isn't my former employer required to give me a some relaxation time?

Default

company can cancel if you do not pay on time, and then reinstate you if the payment comes in within the grace period. if they fail to reinstate you, file a complaint with the Federal DOL.
