hello folks,
I applied for a secured visa with my credit union. When i got the card it was useless as the exp date was actually one month BEFORE the issued date. my CU told me another card had already been shipped. but now, bank says it cannot give me a cash advance on the card because the card is no good. I can't get my money out of the account because as I stated it's a secured visa. I have had to take on a temp job to bring in some kind of money. Is there anyway to hold the bank or the card issuer liable for anything here?

not sure whether the bank's error would constitute an actionable mistake, and second even if it did you would have a hard time establishing that the damages you claim would have been reasonably foreseeable to the bank. consider your state's consumer protection laws.
