Default dog attack?

Last week, I went to take out dog out shortly after dark. While I had him out, on a leash, a group of kids walked by. When two of them walked directly behind me it must have spooked the dog and he turned around and jumped on one of them. We walked the kid home and talked to the people there. We then reported the bite to the police. Our dog has never bitten anyone before and is totally up to date on his shots. I wana know if i am liable in someway or other?
Thank you!

Ofcourse, you're liable. But everything depends on whether they wants to make a big thing about it. You should offer to pay for the medical expenses caused by the bite.
