My father was hit by an automobile. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for drunk driving. my father is in ICU from few days.
The driver of the car is now out on bail. what is my recourse against this person who has a long history of traffic violations and probably without insurance.
How does one go about getting penalties against drunk drivers changed?

hire an attorney and sue the driver. ask for punitive damages as well.
If the driver is still drinking and driving, notify the prosecutor.
