Default to prevent trial!

hi people,
I received a citation for sexual battery misdeamenor. i wish to prevent my family from knowing. Should I plea guilty to prevent a trial? and how long will my record be tainted?

if sex is included in the charge, the rules can get very special and very tough, even for a misdemeanor. so hire a good attorney. all the best!
